SPECIAL EXHIBIT COMING TO THE DE YOUNG: Monet: The Late Years

February 16 to May 27, 2019

This February, 60 paintings by Claude Monet will come to the de Young museum. The first exhibition in 20 years dedicated to the artist's late career, Monet: The Late Years will trace the evolution of Monet's work from 1913, when he embarked on a reinvention of his painting style and into the increasing abstraction of his bold, late works, to his death in 1926. Assembled from major public and private collections in Europe, the US, and Asia, more than 20 prime examples of Monet's beloved water lily paintings will be on view-many of which have never before been seen in the US. Widely known as the master of Impressionism, the exhibition will redefine Monet as one of the most original and influential painters of the early modern age
